The Still Centre

Rhona Byrne created a temporary kinetic sculpture marking the geographic centre of the University campus, defining this invisible place as one of significance but undefined use. As a place of orientation the work considered the organisation of space and the roles that design, function and experience play in our attachment of meaning to place.

With thanks to Adey Steel, Loughborough for supporting this commission.

Rhona Byrne is Dublin based Irish artist who combines sculpture and processes of participation that explore a negotiation of object, place and social practice.
